Join Folding@home project. It is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding and misfolding. More on Folding@home homepage. Project has various clients for Windows and Linux systems. You can use Linux clients on NetBSD too (through Linux binary compatibility). Currently you need to use NetBSD 6.0 or higher version because it supports 2.6.x kernel features which is required by folding@home Linux v7 client (or use legacy v6 Linux client for older versions).
