The NetBSD team has announced the first release candidate for NetBSD 8. It has many changes since NetBSD 7, some of highlights include USB3 support (finally!), WAPBL stability and performance improvements, meltdown and spectre mitigations, UEFI bootloader, nvme and various other drivers, lots of updates to 3rd party software, increased ARM boards support.
